Shakespearean Question

To be or not to be ?

Crossroads, we all get to them once in awhile in our lives. For many, it's nothing short of a life altering choice. Take the leap or take the safe ? Do the thing you fear the most or stay the course and hope for a breakthrough ? Funny thing about choice, you never know the answer until you've made one. No study guide or Google search can prepare you. The stakes ? Simple, safety of regret . Meaning, play it safe, do what you think is the safe bet, do what has been drilled into you for years. Or, take a leap, all the while wondering if you've made the right choice and risked everything. One thing they both have in common is regret. If you do the thing and fail, you regret doing it. If you don't do the thing and live the course you're on, you'll regret not ever taking a chance, if life doesn't turn out the way you thought it would. What to do ? To be or not to be ? In the end, only you that can make that choice. You have to be able to live with yourself with either outcome and you have to live with the choice. It all boils down to, what are you willing to live with. Unfortunately, I don't know is the general consensus.

The Problem With Creativity

No one is original any more.

There, I said it. Buried in a world of hastags and like buttons, originality has been trampled on and pretty much disregarded. It's not originality's fault, it never saw this coming. It never thought that in an age of instant views, everything would come down to presets and tutorials on how to do what someone else did. Now thing is, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with presets and YouTube learning. The problem comes when that's as far as it goes. What if DaVinci only did what was taught to him ? Your art or creative thing, is like a house....those presets and videos are tools and foundation. Why stop building at the foundation when you have all the tools available ? Doesn't make sense, yet masses choose to just do that and collect likes instead of creating whatever they want and bucking the trends. How many times are we going to see the same instaposts and like just because ? Yeah, I've been guilty of doing it too, no shame or judgement from me, but I understand that I have to resist the urge to become a fad. Does my Instagram suffer because all the photos don't have the same color profile ? Does it suffer because I don't have the instanorms we've come to just scroll by ? Probably.  I can't do it though. I can't knowingly post photo after photo with the same color preset or edit, that would drive me crazy and I'd get bored with my work. Hopefully, you jumped into your creative field because you have a love for the creation. If that is indeed you, buck the system, use the internet and presets and videos for what they are intended for, inspiration. Create for the love of it, make what you want, strive to become inspiration, don't stunt your creative vision getting hung up on how many likes you get. Do the work and do it well and the recognition will come. If it doesn't, live with the fact that you made something you're proud of..... like and subscribe to that.

Spent the day roaming the Museum of Fine Arts here in Houston. Always a great visit, although I was a bit miffed that the Greek part of the museum was there. They made room for the Van Gough exhibit, so they get a pass for that . Stopped by the museum cafe as well. If you've never eaten there, you're missing out greatly. All in all, it was a gorgeous peaceful day. One thing I forgot to do was take photos of the names of the works and the creators ,so I could attach them and give credit. My apologies to the artists, but you guys go and see them for yourself and you can see who created what. Of you haven't hit the museums in a while, go. Consider becoming a member as well, we have to support the arts ! (All images taken with Google Pixel 3XL, edits in VSCO)
